NEWS FLASH!!! At a mere 6 months and 6 days of age, this lovely little girl took a UKC major win on her way to her UKC championship!!!
Diné (pronounced
Deeneh) is the new kid on the block here at Adonika. She is the pick
female from the Skeet x Billie litter bred by Laura Smith of Keepsake
Tollers. Diné's name has very
special meaning that is also quite interesting! Her dam's name is Ch.
Keepsake's Code Breaker, CD, RN a/k/a Billie who was named after Laura's father,
Bill. Bill was a Cryptographer - he decoded secret messages from the
Japanese during WWII or was a "Code Breaker". Laura chose to honor his
memory by naming one of her dogs after him. In keeping with this
theme, Diné is also named as play off of
her mother's name. The Navajo Code Talkers played a vital part in
WWII, transmitting and receiving over 800 messages for the US in the battle
of Iwo Jima without error. Please take a moment to visit the
Navajo.org website at
http://www.navajo.org/history.htm and read about these largely unknown
heroes in honor of whom Diné is named.
"Diné," by the way, is another name for
the Navajo, making it only natural that we would choose to call her by this
name.
Diné will be spending
some time growing up before making her appearances in conformation,
obedience, rally and field.
